The globetrotting stallion who has raced in NZ, Australia, Canada and America has had a distinguished career with a New Zealand career record of 15 wins plus 3 wins in North America.
Sky Major will forever be known as the first horse to win a Harness Jewels at ages 2, 3 and 4 when trained by Barry Purdon. To date he is still the only horse to win all three Harness Jewels.
Sky Major won five Group one races in NZ and Australia including the Chariots of Fire in Sydney and the Messenger. He also recorded 3 wins from just 13 starts in North America.
Pete Larkin is quoted as saying about Sky Major "I would go on record as saying, for sheer speed I don't think I have seen a horse who would be able to out sprint him. And I would emphasise that he provides a perfect cross for mares by Bettors Delight, Mach Three and Christian Cullen (basically mares by Most Happy Fella and Direct Scooter line stallions)".
